2002 has seen the continued success of The Portman Ritz-Carlton, which was also named the overall winner, China category winner and Best Hotel Conference Facilities in Asia winner in the 2001 awards.

Thousands of votes were received from Business Asia readers and Bloomberg TV viewers in the 2002 Best Business Hotels in Asia Awards. The Awards were first established in 1998 by Business Asia Magazine, and have grown from strength to strength, the event is now one of the premier dates on the industry calendar.

The Portman Ritz-Carlton was not the only past winner receiving more accolades in the 2002 Awards program. The Grand Hyatt Melbourne won the accolade of Best Business Hotel in Australia for the second year in a row, as did the Conrad Hong Kong, which has once again taken out the title for the Special Administrative Region. Other "two in a row" hotels include the Oberoi Towers (Best Business Hotel in India), the Mandarin Oriental Jakarta (Best Business Hotel in Indonesia), the Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur (Best Business Hotel in Malaysia), and The Pan Pacific Hotel Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Best Airport Hotel in Asia).
